LPG, Ethylene and Propylene Calculations

By GSS Ops Team 21 January, Monday

There are 2 groups of LPG software covering shore and ship LPG calculations:
in US customary units and in Metric units.

Calculations in Metric units for shore and ship's side are covered in the following programs:
Ship LPG EU and Ship LPG EU Cal.

Calculations in US customary units for shore/ship's sides are covered by the program Ship LPG US.
As a bonus this program can calculate ship's side in Metric units as well.

There is also one software Ship EP EU covering shore and ship calculations for ethylene and propylene.

The program Ship LPG US which calculates in US customary units has the following list of cargo operations as shown on the picture below: Blog The programs Ship LPG EU, Ship LPG EU Cal which calculate in metric units have the following list of cargo operations as shown on the picture below: Blog You can select in Ship LPG EU, Ship LPG EU Cal or in Ship LPG US from the drop-down list, which density to use in ship's calculations: Blog
You can select in Ship LPG EU, Ship LPG EU Cal the standard to be used for the calculation of VCF of the liquid phase: Blog
You can select in Ship LPG US from the drop-down list the way of the calculation of VCF of the liquid phase: Blog
You can also select in Ship LPG US from the drop-down list the way of the calculation of VCF of the vapour phase:

The standard for the calculation of the relative density at 60/60°F in Ship LPG US for the ship's calculations based on the testing by means of the pressurized hydrometer can be selected from the drop-down list: Blog
When in Ship LPG EU, Ship LPG EU Cal on the "Main" page you select the cell for the density at 15°C or the Molar Mass, then the following popup menu appears:
Blog If the selected cargo operation in Ship LPG EU or Ship LPG EU Cal was "Discharging", then when you click on the popup menu, you will see the following usermenu which can be used for the calculation of the density at 15°C and of the molar mass on the basis of GC composition:
Blog If the selected cargo operation in Ship LPG EU or Ship LPG EU Cal was "Loading", then when you click on the popup menu, you will see the different usermenu appears on the screen. This case is described in details on the LPG blending page.

When in Ship LPG US on the "Main" page you select the cell for the relative density at 60/60°F, or for the densities in pounds per gallon in air or in vacuo of the liquid phase, or of the the ratio of cubic feet vapour phase to the gallon of the liquid phase, then the following popup menu appears:
Blog Regardless of the selected cargo operation in Ship LPG US when you click on the popup menu, you will see the following usermenu which can be used for the calculation of the relative density at 60/60°F, densities in pounds per gallon in air and in vacuo of the liquid phase and of the the ratio of cubic feet vapour phase to the gallon of the liquid phase on the basis of GC composition:
Blog For your convenience in Ship LPG EU, Ship LPG EU Cal you can use a built-in interpolation calculator of volumes in Metric units allowing to take into account simultaneously product level (ullage or innage) and the trim or list correction: Blog In Ship LPG US you can use a built-in interpolation calculator of volumes either in Metric units or in US customary units: Blog In Ship LPG EU Cal you can use built-in shore tank calibration tables.
First you need to select from the drop-down list the required number of the shore tank used as shown below: Blog After the selection of the number of the shore tank you only need to enter a level of the liquid phase in the shore tank and appropriate volumes will be calculated by the program automatically as shown below: Blog In Ship LPG EU or Ship LPG EU Cal you can also select from the drop-down list the shape of the shore tank (either upright cylindrical, horizontal cylindrical, spherical, or prismatic) and the program will calculate automatically the shrinkage factor using formulas corresponding to the selected shape.

As you can see, all these programs have a lot of useful features designed to automate and facilitates LPG Calculations.
We only showed some of useful capabilities available in our LPG calculation programs.

There are also a couple of programs such as Shore LPG EU Cal and Shore LPG EU RU Cal covering only shore tank calculations with built-in shore tank calibration tables having possibility to download Tankmaster data to speed up filling in reports.
These programs have built-in forms with Bills of lading, Certificates of Quantity and Certificates of Quality which is useful for companies involved in preparation of export cargo documents.

The software Ship EP EU covers shore and ship calculations for ethylene and propylene.

Blog This software has a built-in interpolator for the calculation of volumes of a liquid phase: Blog You need to select the shape of the shore tank and the type of steel of the tank shell to calculate the shrinkage factor of the shore tank: Blog Blog You can also use built-in specifications of ethylene and propylene which can save you time for the preparation of Analysis Reports: Blog There are also a lot of useful features in this software to automate your reporting.
